In order to keep these forums enjoyable and interesting for all of our users, we ask simply that you follow these minimal rules. By participating in the Discussion Forums, you are consenting to these rules. Violators may be warned, suspended from posting, or barred from the forums or chats, at the sole discretion of the MTF 2.0 staff. The rules will be generally enforced with a four strike system. The offender will be sent a warning for their 1st and 2nd offense, temporarily banned for the 3rd offense, and permanently IP banned for continued disruption.
1. Profanity should not be used. Use your discretion here, but generally remember that there are kids in middle school visiting the site. Creative spelling of obvious profane words is also discouraged. Be creative in using emphasis in your posts instead.
2. Flaming will not be permitted on these forums. That includes personal attacks, racist remarks, and off topic criticism, i.e. derisive and/or useless comments about technique in release threads. Disagreeing with an idea or opinion of another community member is different from attacking that individual. Flaming offenses are excluded from the 4 strike system and instant bans may be given.
3. Do not post off-topic. Please keep your comments consistent with the subject and purpose of the conversation thread. Deliberate disruption -- such as consistent off-topic and/or frivolous commentary -- will not be tolerated such posts will be deleted or redirected to our general chat area.
MTF 2.0 and its moderators reserve the right to delete posts and/or whole conversations that we determine are of an irrelevant, abusive or disruptive nature.
4. Generally, topics that have been untouched for 2 months or more should remain untouched. If it is a release thread and the release in question has been or requires updating, the download links are dead, etc, feel free to post a new thread about it or private message the author. If it is a discussion thread, you MUST have something extremely beneficial or thoughtful to add to the thread to justify a bump. If you are not sure whether your potential post meets the requirements, private message a Moderator.
5. Non-moderating members shall not moderate. If you find find a member breaking one of the rules, use the report post link or PM a Moderator to resolve the problem. Do not enforce or even state rules yourself.
6. Moderators shall be treated with respect. Talking back will not be tolerated. If a member finds that a moderator's actions seem inappropriate, please first try to resolve the issue via PM with the moderator, then, if not resolved, private message an Administrator.
7. Leet speak and typing in all caps (FOR EXAMPLE, LIKE THIS) or bold will not be tolerated. Posts will be deleted and members warned.
8. This is an English speaking forum. Please post in English and/or use web based translation software to assist with language barriers. Posts in an alternate language by known English speaking members will be deleted.
Section and Thread Specific Rules
The MacThemes Screenhot thread
This thread is for Mac screenshots only, any Windows screens will be removed, this includes X86 based hardware running reverse engineered versions of OS X on OS X in an emulation window. If you want to post Windows Screenshots there are many communities out there dedicated to Windows screenshots. Visit sites like Aqua-soft and Neowin if you want to post your Windows desktop.
Inline images must be under 600 pixels in width, thumbnails linking toward the full size screenshot is preferred. Images above this size will automatically be hidden or deleted. If possible, information on what theme, desktop, and icon set you have installed would be great.
Posts regarding the screenshots and related components will be allowed. Other off topic posts may be deleted by the staff without warning.
Quoting images in not permitted and offending posts will be removed and members warned.
Releases and Updates
Releases shall be tagged as follows:
For Wallpapers the [Wall] tag should be used
For Icons the [Icon] tag should be used
For OS X Themes the [Theme] tag should be used
For other works the [Other] tag should be used
Previews should be provided for all release threads. Although not a requirement, it helps keep the thread on topic.
Modifications and Hybrids
Modifications of existing themes may only be posted in the Modifications/Hybrids forum and have permission granted for derivative works. The artists granting permission will be listed in the forum description. The author of the mod agrees to link to MacThemes 2.0 when announcing Mod/Hybrid releases on other sites. This is a condition of the Artists granting permission and cannot be jeopardized. Links or screenshots to and of ripped pre-release or Work-in-Progress themes cannot be posted anywhere on these forums unless the artist has given express permission in writing to these forums.
Critique
Works posted in the Critique section may be responded to respectfully and with technical expertise related to enhancement of the piece. Useless posts such as "I don't like it" and "It Sux0rz" will be removed and members warned as they offer nothing but inflammation for those interested.
Support
Please post any questions related to hardware, system software, or general application software, especially GUI related here. Themepark has it’s own support forum for theming related support. Technique or tutorial related questions should be posted in GUI Discussion. Normally, support questions that receive completed answers or direction will be locked for posterity. If you find an additional or updated solution, private message a Moderator to update the thread.
The Lounge
We don't want a free-for-all style lounge here, so keep things appropriate for the younger crowd that visits, and please keep politics and religion out for now. Feel free to discuss other off-topic, non GUI, computing based topics. Direct personal attacks and name calling will not be permitted, otherwise, have fun.
Legal Policy
In agreement with COPPA, all users under the age of 13 must seek permission from their parent or guardian in order to obtain a membership to our forums. While we welcome participation from members under 13, we require that a parent or guardian fax or mail back a signed permission form before we grant membership.
